What does a Professional Organizer do?
Professional Organizers are skilled individuals who implement customized systems of organization designed to maximize space, empower you to be more efficient, and create a sanctuary where you can feel relaxed and in control. Prior to setting up these systems, your items will be sorted into categories while removing items that are no longer relevant to your current lifestyle. Once a space is completed, you will learn how to use and maintain your new systems to put you in control of life.
I’ve never been able to get organized. How can a professional help?
A professional organizer is not as overwhelmed by your situation as you may be. Professional organizers are specialists who study the topic of organizing and know how to work on projects systematically. They are also in tune with and have access to the right resources to address different organizational needs. By working with a professional organizer you will also learn techniques along the way so that you can get (or keep) yourself organized.
Shouldn’t I be able to do this on my own?
Some people find it very difficult to get organized on their own. And some are very good at getting organized but find they can’t ever seem to maintain it, likely because the systems they are creating aren’t actually the most effective ones. The process of getting yourself organized should not be stressful or frustrating – it should be liberating. So even if you might be able to do this on your own, there is no substitute for being efficiently guided by a professional who can take you through the process methodically and objectively, keeping you focused and providing motivation and the right tools for success.
Is it just about throwing things out?
Definitely not! As we go through the process of organizing, we will identify items you are willing to part with, but organizing is about discovering what is important to you and finding ways to make a new system work.
What should I do to prepare for your visit?
Nothing! We want to see your space the way you function in it on a day-to-day basis so that we can truly understand your challenges and help devise the appropriate solutions.
Do you work hand-in-hand with your clients?
Because working with a professional organizer is as much about learning how to stay organized as it is about clearing your space, your return on investment will be greatest if you are 100% involved throughout the process. We recognize, however, that part of the reason you may feel disorganized in the first place is because of all of the demands on your time. After our consultation together we can assess which parts of the project, if any, are well suited to being done without your involvement.
Just because you get me organized once doesn’t mean I’ll stay that way.
Staying organized is easier than you might think – partly because you will be motivated by the peace of mind created through our work together and partly because we will have custom-designed the right organization system to fit your lifestyle. You may not be able to maintain it 100%, which is why we offer maintenance plans to keep you on track as needed, but through our work together we will train you on behaviors needed to maintain your system.
How much does it cost?
Disorganization can be costing you more than you realize, including but not limited to the value of your time spent looking for things, late fees paid on bills you didn’t keep track of, and the cost of duplicate items you are purchasing because you don’t realize or can’t find what you already have. Hiring a professional organizer costs more than a cleaning service but less than a therapist. Your total cost is based on how much time you need, which varies depending on the size of the space, the density of the materials to be organized, and the amount you tackle on your own in between sessions. Yes To Organizing offers packages with hourly rates determined by the number of hours listed in your contract agreement.
What are the benefits of getting organized?
EVERYTHING! You will find yourself having more time, less stress, you will know where everything is located (which saves time and huge headaches), and it will make your life easier and, more importantly, happier. Your environment plays a huge part on your attitude, outlook, and even blood pressure levels. When it’s in disarray that will reflect and play an immediate part on your life. It makes life so much simpler when your environment is organized, clean, and it’s easy to find things.
Will you work with me or just coach me?
It’s entirely up to you. If you don’t want to touch a thing, you don’t have to. But, if you or anyone else wants to help, it’ll get the job done faster, and in the end, save you money.
